Slack
Search and ask your documentation from a channel.
Install the Slack app and your team can search the documentation, and ask it questions, without leaving the channel they are already in.
The slash command
Section titled “The slash command”/docs rotating a token search/docs how do I rotate a token? askA question mark makes it a question. Leave it off and you get search results.
If the project has not turned Ask on, a question tells you so and suggests search instead. An owner or an admin can enable Ask in the project settings.
Why answers arrive a moment later
Section titled “Why answers arrive a moment later”Slack shows the person a timeout if a slash command takes more than three seconds. So the command acknowledges immediately and the real answer follows in the same place.
Rate limits
Section titled “Rate limits”Sixty lookups per person per hour. Beyond that the command says how long to wait. The limit is per person and per Slack workspace, so one enthusiastic colleague cannot exhaust the channel’s allowance.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”Where you enable them, Slack carries the events that need a person:
- a publish that failed;
- a review that is due;
- a domain or certificate problem;
- an item added to the inbox.
Security
Section titled “Security”A Slack endpoint is a public address with no session and no token. Anyone can
post a body at it that says whatever they like, and the only thing separating a
real command from one typed into curl is the signature.
Every request is verified before a single field of the body is read: over the raw bytes, in constant time, inside a five-minute window.
Note
The five-minute window is not decoration. Without it a captured signature is valid for ever, so anyone who ever sees one request — a proxy log, a misconfigured tunnel, a screenshot of a terminal — can replay it whenever they like.

Slack is a reading surface. Writing happens in the writer, in your editor, or over MCP.
